Abraham Lincoln

Morals and morality governed to him. He never deceived to anyone. That's why he had to face failure so many times. At his 21, he was failed in business. He lost election after a year. His wife passed away when he was just 26 that also played a significant role to make him mentally disturbed. But he controlled himself. He was again defeated in the election of congress in his 34 and in the election of senate in his 45. But he didn't loose his patience. Having firm determination he won the heart of Americans and became a prestigious 16th American president in his 52 in 1860.

And, he was Abraham Lincoln. He was born on 12th Feb. 1809 to Thomas and Nancy Lincolns in a log-cabin on a barren farm in Kentucky, USA. His father was poor. So, since his childhood Abraham had to support his father in his works. He didn't get supportive environment to study or to go to the school although he was studious and interested in study. Unfortunately, his mother left him alone in this world when he was just 9 years old. After that the workload was increased to him. He had to do labor dawn to dusk.

Although Lincoln family was laborious, they didn't have their own farmland. They, time to time, moved here and there. During the day, Abraham used to support his father in his works and at night he loved to read books taking help of lamp in their log cabin. He never had formal schooling but read books with great enthusiasm and was always an eager learner. He had no money to buy books but he borrowed fro neighbors and safely returned back to them. It is said that, once, he borrowed book from one of this neighbor but due to the leakage of rain during raining it was nearly been decayed. He was afraid about what to say to his neighbor. But he never lied to anyone. So he told the truth to him. He promised to labor on his farm until the cost of that book wasn't paid. But after someday, that neighbor gave him a precious gift getting him loyal, innocence and obedience and that gift was another copy of same book.

Since his childhood, he was laborious. He was wildly interested in study. If he had the time, he never forgot to utilize it. He used to go miles and miles away just to get books and to read. His step-mother also inspired him to read at home. So he read almost ll about the famous people of his world. He read Bible time to time; he finished he world famous stories; autobiography of the great personalities; history of America and may more. Study was everything to him.

Abraham wanted to be a lawyer, but he had no formal schooling. So, he used to walk far away to get the book related to it. Due to his determination and strong faith, he gained the permission of advocacy in 1836. Very soon, he gained popularity in advocacy as competent and firm lawyer. During the American civil war, he became a commander of American Army. After the war, he decided to be involved in politics.

But Abraham got his turning point when one day the black and poor people as a slave were selling by their master in a market. He committed himself to work against it. He raised the voice against it. He went to near of those slaves and made them united. He won the heart of the poor people by starting the atrocity of their maters. He publicly started t announce in favor of the slaves. Slowly and gradually, he gained wide support from public. He was very clear on his point and said, " If slavery is not wrong, nothing is wrong." But he didn't hate the slave owners as well. He was especially against the institution of slavery and at the same time compassionate at the slave owners. these liberal and modern views won his reputation as a mature politician.

Abraham became Republican in 1856 and worked whole heatedly for the party; for the abolition of slavery. But by 1860 the nation was on a brink of disintegration on the question of slavery. The fight between the northerners and the southerners was increasing rapidly. Extremism was more pronounced in the south and the ruptures between the two became imminent. the republicans finally chose Abraham Lincoln as their presidential candidates for 1860 elections. The choice was unanimous. In election, Lincoln got 1866 million votes and won. But only days after his victory some southern states began to cede from the union due to Lincoln's strong commitment to go against slavery. So by 1861, the division between North and South completed and gave existence to the confederate states of America. Once again the civil war grew in America.

Lincoln had a strong commitment on his point because it was on the favor of humanity. So in 1862, he proclaimed that on January 1, 1863 onwards slaves would be free and the would be no slavery. It was not accepted by southern pole but the strong support from the northern front was increasing. After all in 1865, the southern front surrendered and the slavery system was abolished formally from America.

He was a true son of people. He always favored the people's concern. He defined democracy as the principle of people. He defined it as "the government of the people by the people by the people, for the people". He brought a clear vision and plan in postwar America. He wanted to reconstruct the ruined infrastructure. But he could not escape from the claw of conspirator. He fell on it. While he was watching the drama, a so-called mad John Wilkies Booth shot him dead. His dream to remake America remained behind but still now his contribution in making of modern America is highly appraising.
